A Tale of Friendship

Once upon a time, in a very hot and dry desert, Penny, a cactus tried to bloom a flower in the daytime with the special magic all cacti recieve when they are born.“Hey, Penny. What are you doing?", asked Lila, a friend of Penny. "Hey! I'm trying to concentarate on blooming a flower here. Don't disturb me and make me lose focus.", Penny replied." Penny,  you have to be happy with how many flowers you have bloomed already and value the beauty of each one of it. The next beautiful flower will bloom tonight. You already know that right?" Penny thought about it for a while and said “When I think about it, you are right. The fault is on my side.

It was summer so it didn't rain that night too, just like like all the previous days and nights. Timber, a disabled cactus was suffering with the loss of water as she had been born with leaves instead of thorns -which could help them store water- that all the other cacti had. That night, she got dizzy. Luckily, her close friend, Alice had decided to visit her that night. When she saw Timber lying on the sand, she approached Penny and Lila who were about to bloom a new flower. “Hi. It's me, Alice. I’m so sorry for calling you in the middle of the night.", said Alice. "What's the matter, Alice?", asked Lila. "When I went to Timber's place, I found her lying there, unconscious.", replied Alice. They rushed back to where Timber was lying. Each of them had at least one or two special spikes that could be fixed back in it’s place after use. Each of them plucked one and placed it on Timber’s forehead. Then, together they plucked a leaf off Timber, placed it on top of their special thorns, closed their eyes and when a drop of water landed on it the magic began. Boom! All the leaves turned into thorns and Timber was well again. She was so grateful that she thanked Alice, Penny and Lila several times. This happened only because of the trust they had in themselves and for each other. This is the true joy of friendship!!!
